Altar Bound is the charming and heartwarming story of rock star Sarah Richman who is on a break, resting her voice. Sarah is facing several turning points in her life and one of the biggest is the choices of how to deal with her two kids. The author nails the relationship between a mom and her adult, but still relatively young (early 20's) children, and the angst of giving up control. My own kids are close to this age and, boy, could I feel her pain.
Sarah meets Travis while visiting homey Crystal River to help prepare for a friend's wedding. Having kids of a similar age, Travis can relate to all Sarah is going through and proves to be a solid support in helping hold her steady as she reluctantly learns to let her kids grow and make their own decisions.
The author captures one of the most gut-wrenching challenges in a parent's life and she does it with warmth, giving Sarah the love and support of her friends and family, and now Travis, to get her through.
